A person with a disability may qualify for exemptions if you/they are:
- Unable to engage in gainful work because of physical or mental disability
- 55 years old and blind and cannot engage in your previous work because of blindness.
- If you/they receive disability benefits under the Federal Old Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance Program through the Social Security Administration you should qualify. Disability benefits from any other program may or may not qualify.
- You may apply on the General Residence Homestead application. When submitting, please attach a copy of a current Disability award letter or Physician’s Statement.
